CASE 3 – Basal Cell Carcinoma Treatment

Introduction
This lady has a lesion on the canthus area of the eye. Initially the lesion was small and hardly noticeable. However with time the lesion grew larger and spread over the bridge of the nose and upwards. She was diagnosed as having a basal cell carcinoma.

Case 3A

Method of Treatment
She was placed on CURADERM for treatment as surgery would most likely cause some disfigurement to the face and the possibility of plastic surgery to follow. It is also a dangerous surgery close to the eye. Instead, CURADERM was applied twice daily directly onto the lesion.

Description of Treatment
After a few days on treatment with CURADERM the lesion actually looked worse and now appeared to involve the medial aspect of the eyelid as well as spreading over the bridge of the nose and upwards.

Case 3B

Results
After several more days on treatment the lesion disappeared completely and no recurrence was ever noted. Normal skin covered the area again.

Case 3C

Conclusion
The lesion was successfully treated with CURADERM without any need for chemotherapy or radiotherapy. This is definitely a plus for the patient.
